DFW Airport Service And City Connections

By Edna Booker

While shuttles often serve only airport grounds, some now offer connecting services to area cities and towns. One place this is now quite helpful is at many airports which offer rent-a-cars and other ground transportation. When it comes to DFW airport service shuttles, individuals can now also get to light rail trains which operate just outside the airport complex.

While most DFW shuttle buses run within boundaries of the complex, there are now connections to other areas by way of light rail. When it comes to Arlington, there is also limited bus service from one of shuttle stops.

The parking lot shuttles also service rent a car centers and local hotels. The Grand Hyatt which resides inside the complex is a great stop for travelers. For, this hotel offers the only dining outside security gates. .

While most hotels reside outside the DFW complex, there are two which operate in or near the terminals. The Grand Hyatt which is located inside a terminal, and the Hyatt Regency which sits just outside another. These are often the two most booked hotels in the area as each provide a different level of convenience.

There is also a shuttle service between gates known as Airtrans which has been in operation since the inception of the complex in the mid-late 1970s. The airtrans system includes driverless trains which operate between gates. As such, those riding the system must have a valid airline ticket as the entrance to the service is located inside the security gates.

One of the biggest and brightest aspects is that of the new light rail system. For, up until the the trains began running, travelers could go no further than the parking lots without obtaining a rent-a-car or taking long trips on a public bus. Now, the high speed trains offer individuals the ability to travel to many different areas of the metroplex.

When meeting family and friends traveling in from other areas, it is often best to meet at baggage claim. For, not only is this an area which does not require individuals to hold a ticket, it is also the area closest to close up parking, ground transportation and shuttle buses. More importantly, when meeting in baggage claim, it can often be closer and easier to move vehicles which may exceed time limits due to delays in arrival.

All of these and other features make DFW one of the easiest airports to transverse in the world. Having opened in the mid-late 1970s as one of largest airports in the world, it still remains one of the biggest and best operated. Now, these new transit centers and connections have also made it one of the best transit centers in the area. As such, locals and tourists often finding taking these buses and trains faster and less expensive than having to acquire a rent-a-car, especially for business commutes, day trips or longer stays.
