Finding The New Tampa Attractions For Outdoor Fun

Entertainment options for Florida residents and visitors are endless. Florida's mild year round climate makes the Sunshine State the ideal destination for outdoor activities regardless of which season it happens to be. Individuals visiting the central region of the state can check out any or all of the New Tampa attractions offering entertainment for people of any age.

For outdoor recreational activities, Flatwoods Wilderness Park provides the ideal place to take a break from city life. This attractive park lies within the Lower Hillsborough County Wilderness Preserve in New Tampa. It encompasses almost 5,500 acres of prime land offering trails, picnic facilities, fishing, and more.

Bicyclists, runners, and in-line skaters can enjoy the paved loop road. The loop road is seven miles and has four rest shelters along the way equipped with paper cups and water coolers. Several well houses offer shelters, tables, and grills for picnickers. Restrooms are located at the entrance off of Bruce B Downs Boulevard and the Flatwoods Visitor Center features picnic tables, cold beverages, water, and restrooms. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset and dogs are permitted as long as they are on a leash.

Many other attractions near New Tampa offer family friendly fun. Lowry Park Zoo has received national recognition by many parent's magazines as the best zoo in the country for family entertainment. The property sprawls out over 60 acres and is home to more than 1,500 animal species, including koalas, orangutans, penguins, tigers, and manatees. Interactive displays offer guests the chance to feed giraffes, pet stingrays, and get up close and personal with colorful lorikeets.

Families can head to the Florida Aquarium for the opportunity to interact with denizens of the deep. One of the most popular exhibits at this attraction is the breathtaking Coral Reef Gallery. Guests walk by vast windows offering a glimpse into the world beneath the ocean's surface and they do not even have to get their feet wet. Visitors who want to get wet can participate in one of the swimming and dive experiences offered. The aquarium offers multiple shows featuring many of its inhabitants.

Tampa is also home to Bok Tower Gardens, which is registered as a National Historic Landmark. Guests can tour Pinewood Estate, considered by many to be the finest representatives of early 20th century Mediterranean architecture. Guests can walk through the gardens to visit the art deco and neo-Gothic Singing Tower carillon and enjoy daily afternoon concerts.

Thrill seekers who want a chance to get out on the water will have a ball at Speed Boat Adventures. This attraction allows visitors to captain a speed boat under the direction of a seasoned veteran. This narrated tour takes a two-hour journey around Tampa Bay. Highlights include national wildlife refuges, Ford De Soto Park and the chance to see dolphins, manatees, native birds, and sea turtles.

Florida residents and visitors are never at a loss for entertaining things to do. Tampa's location offers easy access to amusement parks, zoos, wildlife preserves, and more. Regardless of age or personal interest, these attractions provide a fun way to spend the day.
