Door-To-Door Transportation And Orlando Airport Shuttle

By Jason Davis

When away home, travelers often need find alternative transportation. As a result, there is often a need for an Orlando airport shuttle to local amusement parks, hotels and other locations. While some only serve designated destinations, others can provide door-to-door service. If planning a stay at a local Disney hotel, visitors can often take a free shuttle as part of a package.

One of the most preferred ways to travel between an airport and lodging facility is by town car. While Orlando, Florida town cars might be more expensive than other options, drivers are often willing to make other stops in route unlike traditional airport shuttles. Town cars can also be hired by the hour, day or evening unlike traditional shuttles and taxis.

There are always taxis and town cars waiting outside airport terminals. While this is great when arriving at an Orlando, Florida airport, visitors also need rides to other locations. When taking a taxi to the airport, it is important to ask about wait times and allow enough time for traffic and other delays before any scheduled departure. Otherwise, it can be easy to miss a flight due to delays in route or waiting when using cabs.

Lyft and Uber are now good alternatives to traditional taxi cabs in most areas. Users need to keep in mind that while this is the case, there is often surge pricing during rush hours and special events. When booking any car service, it is always important to ask about flat rates, metered rates or increased pricing due to traffic or special events.

Public transportation is often the least expensive mode of transportation though it can also be the slowest. To locate information on the local city transit system and maps, visit the nearest visitor information center, or call the bus company for service locations and schedules. It is important to keep in mind that public transit often operates on limited schedules on holidays and weekends.

When needing a car while in the city, individuals may want to look into car sharing. Zip Car is a membership drive share that allows members to rent cars on an hourly or daily basis. Once a member, the member simply reserves a car, waves a membership card, then obtains the keys and gas card to use while using the vehicle. As the company provides gas and insurance, the costs are far less than traditional rent-a-cars.

Unlike MCO which operates on a reservation and drop-off basis with multiple passengers and locations, SuperShuttle provides direct door-to-door service. MCO on the other hand runs about half the cost of SuperShuttle since it only serves the airport and local lodging facilities. While shuttle service is definitely more limited, SuperShuttle and MCO do generally serve local youth hostels along with well known hotels, motels and resorts.

Lastly, some hotels offer transportation between the airport and hotel. Depending on the hotel, cost and location, this can either be a good deal, or one that will costs more based on location. As such, if possible, always look for a location within walking distance of any attractions of interest.
