Climbing any mountain is definitely a daunting task. It takes a lot of energy and stamina. By training for Kilimanjaro, a person gets physically and mentally prepared. This is the highest mountain in Africa therefore sufficient preparation is needed. If possible, one should join a gym in preparation for this once in a lifetime event. The goal is to get the body in shape.

Months of training will finally pay off during the bid day. A minimum of two months is needed so that to get the body ready. When the adventure is quick approaching, and there is less than a month remaining, one needs to crank up the intensity of exercising. Rest is also important. Continuous exercise without rest will be off little or no help. One needs to sleep for 8 hours or more so that to reap the full benefits of exercises. The weekends should be set aside for relaxing but during the weekdays, one should work hard.

The exact climbing boots and backpack one will use for the adventure need to be used when training. Exercising with such a backpack on one's shoulder will strengthen upper region areas such as shoulders and back, for climbing. Wearing the exact climbing boots gets the feet well prepared. Therefore, when climbing, there will be no blisters. Any sore on the feet area can greatly slow down the adventure. Thus, there is need to harden this part of the body.

Hiking is the ultimate exercise for mountaineers. After all, climbing a mountain is all about hiking. Therefore, someone should do a lot of hikes in the outdoors. If there are hills and mountains nearby, these will provide great training spots. Also, steep trails in the neighborhood will be quite useful for training. If one lives in an area deprived of natural features, joining the gym is advisable. Inside a gym, the stair master machine will stimulate hiking and will be the perfect indoor alternative for hikes.

On top of hiking, running and walking will get the legs properly prepared for the bid day. It is important to remember that the part of the body that will be used most during climbing is legs. Therefore, it needs to be sufficiently prepared using the right exercises. One should try to walk as much as he can. In addition, instead of using a lift in a building, one should simply take the stairs. These simple measures will get the body ready.

To be best acclimatized to the oxygen-deprived environment of Mount Kilimanjaro, one should train in a high altitude environment. This will make the lungs to be better adapted to oxygen shortages. A climber's ability to quickly adapt to the challenges of high altitudes will determine whether a person will have a successful adventure.

Aerobic exercise will build the cardiovascular system. This will help one to process oxygen in an efficient manner. Such a capability is needed when climbing. Therefore, light to moderate exercises such as walking, cycling and long-distance jogging need to be part of one's fitness regimen. Anaerobic exercises are also needed. This includes sprinting and high intensity weight lifting. These help to build stamina that will help a person to be able to persevere until he reaches the top.

A person needs to be fit so that to succeed in mountaineering. Different exercises will help in this endeavor. When the body is fit, tiredness will not set in quickly and one will easily push himself to achieve.
